Frederick “Fred” Carl Villaume, of Langhorne, died with his family at his side on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania after battling nearly 6 weeks of health issues precipitated by an injury. He was 72 years old. He was the beloved husband of Betty Bruning Villaume for 51 years.
Born in Honesdale, PA, he is the son of Geraldine Smith Villaume and the late Carl Villaume. Fred graduated high school in Massapequa Park, Long Island, New York. While attending Hartwick College he was drafted by the army and proudly served his country during Vietnam. Fred and Betty moved to Pennsylvania in 1978, living in Meadowlake Park, Sciota in the Poconos for 35 years, and moving more recently to Bucks County. He obtained his Master’s Degree in Environmental Science from Rutgers University. Fred worked in R&D and traveled extensively for nearly 25 years for M&M Mars Inc, assisting with Olympic and other promotions.
Fred enjoyed gardening (especially riding the tractor and definitely using the chainsaw), playing sports including softball, and especially traveling with his wife and spending time with his family and friends. He was a kind and generous man and always supportive of family and friends. Fred was always glad to help.
In addition to his wife and mother, Fred is survived by his two daughters, Cheryl Young and her husband Scott, and Jennifer Prandi and her husband Steve; as well as his three grandchildren who he adored and was so very proud of, Ethan Snyder, Ryan Young and Erin Young. Fred is also survived by his two brothers, Rich Villaume and his wife Nanci, and Bill Villaume and his wife Emme, and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins whom he loved dearly.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Fred’s visitation on Friday, July 13, 2018 from 7:00-9:00pm and on Saturday, July 14, 2018 from 10:00 – 11:30am, with a funeral service immediately following at 11:30am. Visitation and Service to be held at the Joseph A. Fluehr, III Funeral Home 800 Newtown-Richboro Rd. (at Holland Rd.) Richboro, PA 18954. Fred’s interment will take place privately.
