Eileen Phelan McGowan of Philadelphia, PA Ocean City, NJ, and Watercolor, FL, passed at away peacefully at home in Ocean City on Thursday, July 5, 2018 surrounded by her family. She was 60.

Eileen was the beloved wife of Thomas F. McGowan with whom she shared 20 years of marriage.

Born in Memphis, TN she was a daughter of the late James and Eugenia Eileen Kehoe Phelan.

Eileen spent much of her life in Memphis where she graduated from the St. Agnes Academy. While there she was crowned “Miss St. Agnes”, elected president of her class and was recently inducted into their Hall of Fame. She went on to earn her Bachelors Degree in Economics from Vanderbilt University and later spent over 20 years as a Stock Options Trading Manager with the former Morgan Keegan & Co.

Eileen embodied a joyful charisma that was infectious to all who came in contact with her. She had a smile that lit up every room and a kind and gentle spirit that touched every heart. The bright and colorful clothes she wore reflected the person she was inside; full of positive energy and vitality. She was generous with her love and time, always considering others before herself. With purpose, courage and dignity, Eileen has forever impacted our lives with her vivacious personality and fierce kindness. She is loved so deeply and will be dearly missed.

In addition to her husband Eileen is survived by her step-children, Keith McGowan (Christina), Alison McGowan, Maureen Rossi (Michael), and Caitlin Mason (Percy). She also leaves behind her sister, Susan Luttrell (Jim) and twin Ellen Rickard (Ace), her mother-in-law, Regina McGowan; and her special Uncle Cullen Kehoe (Mary); and numerous nieces and nephews. Lastly, she will be forever remembered as beloved “Leenie” to her grandchildren Rian, Timothy Michael II, Josslyn, Percy, Sean, and Juliet.

Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and Wednesday, July 11, 2018 from 10:00 AM until her Funeral Mass 11:00 AM at The Church of St. Andrew, 81 Swamp Rd., Newtown, PA 18940. Her interment will follow in the Parish Cemetery.

A Memorial Celebration of Eileen's Life will be held on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at 2:00 PM in Siena Hall at St. Agnes Academy, 4830 Walnut Grove Road, Memphis, TN 38117.  

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to St. Agnes Academy, 4830 Walnut Grove Road, Memphis, TN 38117.
