John S. Davis of Newtown died peacefully surrounded by his beloved family on Thursday, July 5, 2018 at Albert Einstein Medical Center. He was 72. John was the loving husband of 47 years to Carole A. Peterson Davis. Born in Pittsburgh, PA he was the son of the late Robert and Suzanne Davis.
John graduated from Princeton University majoring in Electrical Engineering. He went on to work at IBM as a Systems Engineer for 42 years.
He served as an Elder at Thompson Church and was active in the choir and handbell choir. He sang with Cantus Novus, an auditioned choral group. He also volunteered with the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen (TASK), Urban Promise-Trenton, and the Newtown Township Park and Recreation Committee.
In addition to his wife Carole, John is survived by his three sons and their wives: Andy and Penny, Matthew and Charlotte, and Gregg and Lydia. He is also survived by his two dear granddaughters Aria and Daphne, his sisters Barbara Bokor (Larry) and Debora Davis and his brother Ross Davis (Holly).
John’s family will receive friends on Monday, July 9, 2018 from 10:00 AM until his Memorial Service at 11:00 AM, with a reception to follow at Thompson Memorial Presbyterian Church, 1680 Aquetong Rd., New Hope, PA 18938. His interment will be private.
The family has asked that in lieu of sending flowers to please make a donation in John's name to the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen (TASK). You can do so through the church by sending a check to Thompson Memorial Presbyterian Church at the above address, made out to TMPC with John Davis Memorial Gift to TASK in the memo line or to give directly to TASK on the website www.trentonsoupkitchen.org/ .
