Gilda “Jean” Kiryluk of Newtown passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2014, at Pickering Manor Home, Newtown.
She was the beloved wife of the late William Kiryluk and sister of the late Al Rongione, Jack Rongione, and Amelia Neri.
Born in Belgium on December 30, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Michele and Albina Tedeschi Rongione and emigrated from Cerasuolo, Italy to America. After graduating from Simon Gratz High School in Philadelphia in 1939, she worked for Sears where she met William Kiryluk whom she married on April 27, 1946 and had two sons, Bill and Alan. She also worked for Lehigh Valley Railroad as a bookkeeper. When her beloved husband died in 1968, Jean worked at the IRS. She also worked at her son’s flower shop, “Fireside Flowers”, well into her 80’s as a bookkeeper for almost 30 years.
She loved flowers, gardening, cooking, baking and the Phillies. But, more than anything else, she lived for and loved her family.
She is survived by her two sons, William Kiryluk and his wife, Sharon, of Newtown and Alan Kiryluk and his wife, Debbie, of Ivyland; her 7 grandchildren, Amie of Newtown, Kara Johnson (Dan) of Whidbey Island, WA, Laura Albrecht (Carl) of Newtown, Katie Goodrich (Peter) of Florida, B. J. of Delaware, Leslie Miller (Aaron) of Chalfont, Jill of Ivyland and four great-grandchildren, Halle, Anna, Benjamin, and Andrew. She is also survived by her brother Chuck Rongione and sister-in-law, Diane, of Feasterville along with many loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing on Saturday, February 22, 2014, from 9:00 AM at the Olde Church of Saint Andrew, 135 S. Sycamore Street, Newtown, PA l8940. Words of Remembrance will start at 10:15 AM followed by her Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM.
Interment will take place at Resurrection Cemetery, Bensalem, PA.
The family wants to extend their gratitude to the Pickering Manor staff and Gentiva Hospice for their loving support in her final days.
