John S. Sherman died peacefully at home in Chalfont, on Wednesday, June 20, 2018. He was 81 years old.
He was the beloved husband of 60 years, to Mary A. Sherman.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the only child of the late Howard and Agnes Sobol Sherman. John was a 1955 graduate, and proud alumnus of the St.Thomas More High School. He was a longtime resident of Lawncrest before moving to Chalfont, PA.
John was kind and compassionate; he enjoyed helping those around him that were less fortunate or those in need. His family was his priority and any time spent with his children and grandchildren was cherished. He was passionate about music, of any kind. His grandchildren would often share their favorite tunes with him and he quickly became a fan. John also enjoyed dancing, bowling with the Hennessey Tavern Muggers and playing softball with the Narberth Softball Team. He will be sadly missed for his kind heart.
In addition to his wife, Mary, John is survived by his children, John S. Sherman, Stephen J. Sherman, Marianne (Kevin) McGovern and Jacquelynn (Albert) Ford. He will be remembered fondly by his grandchildren; Sara, Andrew, AJ (Erin) Ford, AJ McGovern, Ryan, Heather Ford, Nicole, Heather McGovern, Sean and Stephen; and his great grandson, AJ Ford, IV.
Family and friends are invited to John’s visitation on Monday, June 25, 2018 from 9:00am until the start of his Funeral Mass, 10:30am at St. Jude Church, 321 West Butler Avenue in Chalfont, PA 18914. His interment will follow at St. John Neumann Cemetery.
