Peter Piskei of Warrington passed peacefully on Monday, June 18, 2018 at Doylestown Hospital, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was 81.
Peter was the loving husband of Katharina Bamer Piskei with whom he had shared 58 years of marriage.
Born in Sackelhausen, Romania, he was the son of the late Michael and Katharina Reichert Piskei and brother of the late Theresa Piskei.
Peter moved from Sackelhausen to Salzburg, Austria, where he met the love of his life Katharina. Peter immigrated to the United States in 1956 and married Katharina in 1959. Peter raised his family in the Rhawnhurst section of Philadelphia, eventually moving to Warrington in 2005.
He worked in the family business, Mike Piskei and Sons Cabinetmakers, which was located in the Olney section of Philadelphia. Peter was an excellent craftsman working for over 45 years, retiring in 2012.
Peter was a lifetime member of the United German Hungarian Club. He played on the soccer team and helped lead the team to win the 1965, US National Amateur Cup Final. Peter enjoyed designing and planting flower gardens especially around his home. He was beloved in his community and enjoyed engaging neighbors in conversation.
He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and Opa and for his friendly smile and loyalty to his friends.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his children, Carolyn DeCesare and her husband Lou of Doylestown and Christine DeCesare and her husband, Bob of Warrington. He will be missed by his adoring grandchildren; Louis, John, Victoria, Christina, and Patricia DeCesare. He also leaves behind his brother Adam Piskei (Barbara); his sister-in-law, Susi Hoffmann (Rudi); as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family on Friday, June 22, 2018 from 8:30 AM until his Funeral Mass 10:30 AM at St. Robert Bellarmine Church, Euclid Ave. & Carriage Way, Warrington, PA 18976. His interment will follow in St. John Neumann Cemetery, Chalfont.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society, 1626 Locust St., Phila., PA 19143 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105.
