Gary M. Hellings, of Newtown and formerly of Philadelphia, passed away on Friday, February 21, 2014 at Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital. He was 62.

Born in Trenton, NJ, he was the son of the late Augustus and Mildred Little Hellings.

He was the loving husband of Deborah Fox Hellings for 42 years.

Gary proudly served our country in the United States Marine Corps as a sergeant during the Vietnam War. After returning home, he worked as a computer technician for the Unisys Corporation in Blue Bell. For the last 23 years, Gary was employed by the United States Postal Service as a repair technician.

He loved genealogy, spending time with his grandchildren, and excelled at math puzzles, especially Sudoku.

Gary was a soft-spoken, loving family man, who was devoted to his entire family. He will be dearly missed.

In addition to his wife, Gary is survived by his children: Christian J. Hellings and his wife Susan of Hatboro, and Jessica B. Millward and her husband Greg of Langhorne; his sisters: Sharyn Merkel and her husband Donald of Sarasota, FL and Janice Myers and her husband Butch of Spring Run, PA; and his grandchildren: Owen, Luke, and Samuel.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday, February 28, 2014 from 10:30 am until his Funeral Mass at 12:00 pm in the Church of St. Andrew, 81 Swamp Rd., Newtown, PA 18940.

Interment will follow at Washington Crossing National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Abramson Cancer Center may be made payable to The Trustees of the University of Pennsylvania, and sent to Penn Medicine Development, 3535 Market St., Suite 750, Philadelphia, PA 19104.
