Gerard J. Lynch of Newtown, PA died peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, February 21st, at his residence. He was 81.
Gerard was the beloved husband of 39 years to Dorothy M. Craven Lynch.
Born in Philadelphia, PA he was the son of the late Joseph and Frances Doyle Lynch and the father of the late James H. Sweeney III.
Mr. Lynch was a proud veteran of the Army who answered the call to serve his country during the Korean Conflict. He worked as a welder for U.S. Steel for over 40 years and was a long time member of American Legion Morell Smith Post 440 in Newtown. Gerard enjoyed spending quality time creating memories with friends and family on various trips and time spent at the shore. Gerard will be greatly missed by everyone who has come to know and love him.
In addition to his wife Dorothy, Gerard is survived by his 7 loving children and their spouses; Gerard Lynch and Janet of Bensalem, Judith Spera of Jamison, Cindy Schumacker and Raymond of Bensalem, Eugene Sweeney and Amy of Mt. Laurel, NJ, Catherine Tomcho and Matthew of Ivyland, Gregory Sweeney of Newtown, and Debra Kenny and Scott of Bensalem. His 2 sisters Francine Russell and Maryann Engelhardt, his brother Martin Lynch, 15 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren also survive him.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewings on Wednesday evening, February 26th, from 6:00-8:00pm in the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Rd. (at Holland Rd.) Richboro, PA 18954 and on Thursday, February 27th in the Church of St. Andrew 81 Swamp Rd. Newtown, PA 18940 from 10:30am until his Funeral Mass at 11:30am.
Interment will follow in Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown.
