Kenneth Kitson, Jr. “Ken” of Doylestown, died on May 16, 2018 at Pine Run Health Center, surrounded by his family.  He was 88. 

Ken was born on October 14, 1929 in Mt. Airy, Pa., to Rachel Wetherill Kitson and Kenneth Kitson, Sr.  He grew up in Germantown Pa. where he attended Roosevelt Jr. High and Germantown High School. He graduated from LaSalle College Night School, majoring in Marketing.

He served in the National Guard during the Korean War, and was stationed in Germany

In 1955 he married the former Betty Hatch and they raised their two sons in Oreland, Pennsylvania.  In 1986 he retired from a long career with Smith, Kline & French Pharmaceuticals (now GlaxoSmithKline) and he and Betty moved to Ottsville, in Bucks County.

His interests included nature and birding, photography, camping, woodworking and carving, painting, and model railroading. He was active in his sons’ Boy Scout troop. He was very active in his church as well as at Bucks County Audubon and Peace Valley Nature Center.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sister, Audrey McCrea, of Doylestown.  Surviving also are his sons: Larry and wife Bonny of Easton, and Lee and his wife, Lynn of Harleysville.  He also leaves five grandchildren:  Sheila Wood, and Kenneth, Emily, Mary and Rachel Kitson as well as 3 great-grandchildren: Brandon, Savannah and Teagan.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his memorial service on Saturday, June 2nd at Trinity Episcopal Church, 2631 Durham Road (Rt. 413) in Buckingham. Visitation begins at 9:30 a.m. followed by the service at 10:00.  There will be a luncheon at 11:00.  Interment will be private. 

In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to either the above-named church at P.O. box 387, Buckingham, Pa.18912, or Peace Valley Nature Center, 170 Chapman Road, Doylestown, PA. 18901.
