June Overington Bierman was a regal Englishwoman known as Bee.  Her life was anything but ordinary. 

Born and raised in England, June grew up in Walton-on-Thames in Surrey.  Her father drove a classic red double-decker bus in London for 39 years. Her mother was a homemaker.  All was well--until the war began. Backyard bunkers became a necessity for those living near London.  Life was forever changed yet she persevered.  

At 17 years old, June accepted a job with the U.S. War Shipping Administration, a World War ll emergency war agency of the U.S. Government.  The agency was tasked to operate and purchase what the U.S. needed to fight the war. June’s skills were appreciated immediately.  She was reassigned, at the age of 18, to the U.S. Embassy in Germany.  She became a legal secretary for Judge Francis Biddle, the U.S. head judge of the War Crimes Tribunal at Nuremburg.  She was a young stenographer who “sat with the military brass while feverishly taking procedural notes." During that time, she caught the eye of a tall, handsome American Sergeant Earl Bierman.  Earl stood guard at the Palace of Justice during the trials for crimes against humanity.  Their attraction was immediate.  A difficult time in history enabled a wonderful couple to meet, marry and remain together for 72 amazing years.

Their three children, Glen, Gail (Gene Albert), and Lynn (William Goldman) as well as her seven grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren will miss her grace, wisdom and love.

June left this message-

To all I am leaving behind - I thank you for sharing this good life with me.  It was kind of you to allow me to raise my family in a country that was not originally my own.  New Hope was a perfect place for Earl and me to become involved with the community, enjoy special friendships and remain active.  Take care of yourselves, the town and the river.  To all of my great grandkids, “Carry on!”

At June’s request, cremation has taken place and there will be no formal period of visitation.  The family would like to express gratitude to the Penn Comprehensive ALS Center for their great expertise and kindness and to all the friends and caregivers along the way who provided care in such a pleasant manner.
