Joseph Patrick Corcoran died Sunday, April 29, 2018 at his residence in Furlong surrounded by his loving family. He was 81.

Joseph was the beloved husband of 47 years to Patricia Harvey Corcoran.

Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late James and Anna Kilgallon Corcoran and brother of the late James Edmund and John Corcoran.

Joseph was a resident of South Philadelphia before moving to Abington in 1972.  He was a loved and respected educator with over 35 years of distinguished service with the Philadelphia School District until his retirement. He served in the U.S. Army from 1961-66. Joseph enjoyed spending his summers in Avalon, NJ and his winters in Naples, FL. He loved reading, spending time on the beach and swimming in the ocean with his grandchildren. He was a life-long learner and an independent scholar. Joseph was a daily and faithful communicant at St. William Catholic Church in Naples, Florida; St. Brendan the Navigator Church in Avalon, N.J. and St. Cyril of Jerusalem Church in Jamison. He will be remembered as a dedicated family man and friend and will be deeply missed by family and by all who came to know him

In addition to his beloved wife Patricia, Joseph is survived by his daughter Pateen (Corcoran) Handel, and her husband Heath, of Furlong; his 3 cherished grandchildren: Emily, Evan and Kaitlyn, and his sister, Anne Marie Gallagher of Berwyn, PA

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing from 9:30am until his Funeral Mass, 10:30am on Friday, May 4^th in St. Cyril of Jerusalem Church, 1410 Almshouse Road, Jamison, PA 18929.  Joseph’s interment will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
