Mildred Mento passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Sunday, April 29, 2018. She was 83 years old.
She was the beloved wife for 47 years of the late Nathan Mento, who died in 2003.
Born in Philadelphia, she was the youngest of the nine children of the late Leonard and Margaret (Dailey) Mainart. Mildred graduated from Hallahan High School in 1952 and met the love of her life, Nathan Mento, in 1955 at a Valentine’s Day dance. When Nate got home that evening he told his parents that he met the woman he was going to marry. They got married in 1956 and raised their three children in the Bustleton section of Northeast Philadelphia. Mildred retired from Graybar Electric , and she and Nate retired to their home in the Pocono Mountains. They escaped the harsh cold of the Poconos by leisurely driving to Florida every winter, always spending some of the time in their favorite place, Disney World, where they took their children and grandchildren several times. Millie was an avid reader and enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She was most famous for her intricate afghans and beautiful baby blankets.
Mildred was preceded in death by her siblings Katherine Mainart, Leonard Mainart Jr., Thomas Mainart, James Mainart, Edward Mainart, Margaret Smith, Anna Mainart, and Agnes Daley, as well as her niece Deborah Daley and her nephew David Mainart.
Mildred is survived by her children Audrey Mento, Nicholas Mento, and Stasia Mento-Moloney and her husband Daniel, all of whom reside in Bucks County. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law Patricia Mento, her grandchildren Edward Mento and his wife Susan, Andrea Parkins, Rachael McLaughlin and her husband John, Nicole Mento, Makayla Mento, Sean Moloney, Kristyn Moloney, and Lisa Moloney and her great-grandson, Varian Rodriguez.
She will be missed by her many nieces and nephews and their children and grandchildren as well as by the crew from Graybar, her dear friend Jane Everitt Overington, whom she has known since first grade, and her friends and the staff at Twining Village.
Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family from 7:00-9:00pm on Wednesday, May 2nd, in the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Road (at Holland Road), Richboro, PA 18954 and on Thursday, May 3rd, from 9:00am until her Funeral Mass 10:00am at St. Bede the Venerable Church at 1071 Holland Road, Holland, PA 18966. Mildred’s entombment will take place at Sunset Memorial Park in Feasterville.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Millie’s favorite charity, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 (www.stjude.org).
