Nancy J. (Wantner) Harris of Newtown passed away suddenly on Monday, April 23, 2018. She was 79.

Nancy was the beloved wife of 53 years of the late S. David Harris. Born in Trenton, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Margaret (Bruker) Wantner and sister of the late Helen Conover.

A 51 year resident of the Newtown area, Nancy was born and raised in Trenton, NJ and a graduate of Trenton Central High School, class of 1956. She was a much respected member of the community, both in Newtown and in Trenton and was a very successful businesswoman. She was a clothing designer and in the late 1960’s was the proprietor of “Nancy Harris of Newtown”.

In 1972, along with her husband David, she co-founded Harris Manufacturing Company in Trenton. With their vision, passion and resolve to do things right and treat people right, they grew the business to include three factories in two states and several hundred employees.

Nancy was very active in the local political scene, with the Newtown Area Republican Club, becoming the first female to serve as a Newtown Township Supervisor, doing so for 6 years (including 2 years as Chairman) and as a long-time supporter of Congressman Jim Greenwood.

She very much loved her family and spending time with them whenever she could, especially cherishing her time with her two precious great-grandchildren. Nancy and her beloved sisters, Helen and Jane, were together often and well known at the many places they would frequent. She also enjoyed spending time at the shore on Long Beach Island.

She will be deeply missed by her loving family: her sister Mary Jane Edwards and her husband Bill of Washington’s Crossing, PA; daughter Leslie Donovan and her husband Kevin of Dover, DE; daughter Lauri Evans and her husband Ed of Holland; her four grandchildren: David Donovan and his wife Angela of Dover, DE; Jessica Donovan of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; Dillon Evans of Holland and Nicole Evans of Downingtown; and her two great-grandchildren: Avery Donovan and Sydney Donovan, both of Dover, DE. She was also a loyal and devoted aunt, cousin and friend to many.

Nancy’s family will receive friends on Monday, April 30, from 9:00am to 11:00am. A combined memorial service for Nancy and her departed sister, Helen Conover, will be at 11:00am. at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Road (at Holland Road), Richboro, PA 18954. Interment and Graveside Service for Nancy will follow at the Newtown Cemetery, Newtown, PA.
