Joseph J. Duome of Newtown died peacefully Saturday, October 25, 2014 at his residence. He was 97.
Joseph was the beloved husband of 71 years to the late Rose Visconti Duome.
Born in New York, NY, he was the son of the late Joseph J. and Margaret Luciana Duome and the father of the late CarolAnne Duome.
A WWII veteran, Joseph served with distinction in multiple campaigns including Northern Africa, Italy, the Black Forest and Southern France. He was the last living member of the 449th Military Police Company.
A graduate of Columbia University, his early journalism career was as a New York sports writer. He later developed his skills as a financial writer, attaining executive posts at some of the most prestigious public relations firms in the world before establishing his own agency; becoming an expert in Japanese politics, products and financial markets.
As an author throughout and during the latter end of his career and life, he penned a wide range of literary works, from the detective cases of Lt. DiNapoli, to whimsical children’s stories and other bible stories.
Joseph is survived by his loving children and their spouses; MargaretRose and Lloyd Robinson of Los Angeles, CA and Marc and Francine Duome of Pipersville; and his brother, Anthony DiNome. He was the proud grandfather of his cherished grandchildren, Joseph, and Jessica Welch and her husband, Christopher.
Joseph’s family will receive friends on Thursday, October 30th from 6:00-8:00pm in the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Rd. (at Holland Rd.) Richboro, PA 18954. Also everyone is invited to attend his Funeral Mass Friday, October 31st at 10:00am in the Church of St. Andrew, 81 Swamp Road, Newtown, Pa 18940. Interment will follow with Military Honors at Washington Crossing National Cemetery in Newtown.
