Dolores D Eckley (nee Digris) was born at home in Delano, Schuylkill County, PA on June 18, 1929 and died peacefully in her sleep on April 17, 2018.  Prior to recent hospitalizations, she resided at the home of her daughter, Debra Marra, in Ivyland, PA since 1990.  Residences included Delano, Boyertown, Levittown, and Drexel Hill.

She was predeceased by her parents John Charles Digris and Catherine Rose Saroka (who owned the Digris Café), her brother, Major (Ret.) Alphonse J Digris and her husband, Frank J Eckley.  She is survived by three children, eight grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.  She contributed to the lives of many for 88 years.

Her love for her brother and his military contributions was matched by her love for her children.

Dolores graduated from the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania as a medical technologist in the 1940’s and worked for CHOP, Locust Mountain Hospital, Boyertown Hospital, Lower Bucks Hospital, Fitzgerald Mercy Hospital, and finally retired as Blood Bank Supervisor from Bryn Mawr Hospital after a 40 year career.

She was known as the “baking Nana” to children and teachers at Childtowne Montessori, Churchville, and Maureen M Welch elementary schools, who enjoyed her many treats over the years.  She was thrilled to be greeted as “Nana” when students encountered her unexpectedly in local supermarkets or at mass.

Her greatest joy was hosting family dinners in her Drexel Hill home and producing bakery quality tiered wedding cakes along with homemade donuts for Faschnacht Day, cinnamon buns from scratch, and batches and batches of Christmas cookies.

Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family from 10:30am until her funeral Mass 11:00am on Monday, April 23, 2018 in the Chapel of St. Louise de Marillac at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 654 Hatboro Road, Richboro, PA 18954 with internment at St. Stanislaus Cemetery in Shenandoah, PA immediately following.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Heart Association, 5455 N. High Street, Columbus, OH 43214.
