John J. “Jack” Stanton passed away peacefully April 5, 2018 at Arden Courts in Yardley. He was 83.
Born in Philadelphia, Jack was the son of the late Rose (nee Popplewell) and Anthony Palmer. He was predeceased by his daughter Priscilla Ellen Pianka and his sister Rose Ann Moore. Jack is survived by his loving wife of 61 years Virginia Lord Stanton of Langhorne; his daughter Leslie Shortridge and her husband Thomas; his brother Bob Palmer and his wife JoAnn; and his sister-in-law Priscilla Lord. He is survived by his grandchildren Gillian Pianka, Claire Pianka and Oliver Shortridge as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
After serving in the United States Army, Jack returned to Bucks County where he pursued several different careers; he was a meat cutter, an agent with Home Life Insurance Company, co-owner of Thornridge Beauty Salon, and a Pepperidge Farm Cookie franchisee. But his favorite job was teaching. He was one of the first students at Bucks County Community College and attended Trenton State College and Temple University. He taught history at both Delhaas and Woodrow Wilson High Schools in Bristol Township. In retirement, he enjoyed golf, splitting his time between Berlin, Maryland and Leesburg, Florida.
