Barbara Harrigan O’Leary of Feasterville passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 1, 2018 with her loving family by her side at Abington-Jefferson Health Hospice at Warminster. She was 68.
Barb was the loving wife of Terence R. O’Leary with whom she had shared 45 years of marriage.
Born in Philadelphia she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Jean Wentz Harrigan.
Barb graduated from Bishop Conwell High School and went on to attend Gwynedd Mercy University where she received her Bachelors in Education. She later attended Holy Family University earning her Master’s Degree in Reading. She became a teacher for St. Bernard’s Parish School in Philadelphia and once her children were born she settled down to raise her family. Once her children were grown she returned to work as a telephone systems instructor and most recently as a greeter and hallway monitor for Council Rock High School South.
Barb was an all around people person and found a lot of joy in being with those she loved. Sometimes referred to as the “Martha Stewart” of the family for both her love and talent for entertaining, she was often known to surround herself with family and good friends any time she could. She was also a voracious reader of anything from books to magazines to newspapers and never lost her desire to learn.
Most of all, Barb treasured time with her grandchildren who, in recent years gave her the fortitude to keep living in the midst of an illness that many feel is insurmountable. They, along with her entire family, were the light of her life.
In addition to her husband Barb is survived by her children, Terence O’Leary Jr. and his wife, Carlene, of New Britain and Christopher O’Leary and his fiancé, Jajaira Mahoney, of Perkasie. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Catelyn and Aidan O’Leary; and her siblings, Susan Harrigan, JoAnn Kiley (Charles), Joseph Harrigan (Janice), and James Harrigan (Susan); as well as countless nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family on Thursday, April 5, 2018 from 9:30 AM until her Funeral Mass 11:00 AM at Assumption B.V.M. Church, 1900 Meadowbrook Rd., Feasterville, PA 19053. Her interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Assumption B.V.M. Church at the above address.
