Glendyne H. Sanwald of Holland died peacefully on Sunday, March 18, 2018, surrounded by his family at Twining Village in Holland. He was 99 years old, one month shy of his 100th birthday.
Glen was the beloved husband of the late Marie B. Sullivan Sanwald with whom he had shared 71 years of marriage.
Glen, a World War II Veteran, was awarded two Purple Hearts and the Bronze Star among other distinctions, while serving in the Pacific Theater with the U.S. Army.
A longtime resident of Churchville, Glen took great pride in caring for his lawn and gardens. He was an avid Phillies and Eagles fan and could be found watching the games whenever they were televised.
Glen was a devoted member of Good Shepherd Church in Southampton, and sang in the choir for many years. He continued singing in the Twining Village Choir. Glen also co-founded a group called the Merry Tones.
He had a long career working for Freihofer’s and Bond Bread Companies and in retirement drove a school bus for Centennial School District for 15 years.
Glen enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be dearly missed.
Surviving is his brother, John of Philadelphia and his loving daughters, Patricia A. Marx and her husband, Edward of West Grove, PA and Barbara Stehlik of Quakertown, PA. He is also survived by his four devoted grandchildren, Jennifer M. Steich, Charles J. Stehlik IV, Edward R. Marx and Timothy M. Marx and 7 great grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 from 10:00 AM until his Funeral Service 11:00 AM at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Rd., (at Holland Rd.), Richboro, PA 18954. His interment will follow at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project at P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.
