Dora G. Del Gobbo (Pardi)
Dora G. Del Gobbo, 86, formerly of Fairfax Station, Virginia and Kendall Park, New Jersey passed away on Friday, March 9, 2018 at Sunrise Senior Living after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Dora was born to the late Joseph and Wilhelmina Pardi on March 27, 1931 in Manhattan and raised in Brooklyn, New York. She graduated from Hunter College in 1953 and began teaching elementary school in West Babylon, New York. While in college, she met Nello her beloved husband of nearly 64 years and devoted caregiver. They married on April 18, 1954 and settled in New Jersey where they lived until 1974.
Dora loved children and taught at the elementary school level initially and as a pre-school teacher until her retirement. She was a long-time Girl Scout leader, volunteer with the PTA and Garden Club of Princeton, avid bridge player, cook and seamstress. However, she derived her ultimate joy from sharing meals and stories with her family around the dinner table.
Dora was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend and teacher. In addition to her husband, Dora is survived by her four daughters, Janet Edgington, and her husband, Randall, of Newtown, PA, Susan Del Gobbo, of Charlottesville, VA, Kathy Del Gobbo, of Rice, VA and Christina Howard, and her husband, Russell, of Williamstown, MA; five grandchildren, Marc Edgington and his wife, Shauna, Daniel Consolvo, Lauren Howard, Alison Howard and Ava Howard; two great- grandchildren, Jackson Edgington and Adelyn Edgington, and her nieces and nephews.
Dora was predeceased by her two brothers, Angelo and Albert and her sister, Caroline.
A private memorial service will be held this spring. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to the Cure Alzheimer’s Fund at curealz.org/donate or mailed to 34 Washington St., Suite 200 Wellesley, MA 02481.
The family would like to thank Sunrise Senior Living and Eleanor’s Garden for their care and support over the last several years.
