Marie Smith Hill of Newtown, PA died peacefully on Thursday, March 13th at Friends Nursing Home at Chandler Hall, Newtown. She was 83.

Born in Camden, NJ, and raised in Collingswood, NJ., she was the daughter of the late George J. and Margaret M. Smith, and grandmother of the late David B. Hill, IV.

Marie attended St. Mary of the Angels Academy in Haddonfield, NJ and earned her Bachelor of Science in Education in 1952 from the University of Pennsylvania. She began her long and dedicated career in elementary education in New Jersey and then joined the Neshaminy School District in 1960, serving there for 40 years. Marie was recognized in 2003 by the Neshaminy School District for her distinguished career and service.

Marie is survived by her loving and devoted children and their spouses; David B. Hill, III and Cynthia of Doylestown, and Deborah Hill Carl and Mark of Clifton, VA. She is also survived by her 4 Grandchildren; Colleen M. and Kelsey M. Hill, and Stephanie L. and Brian C. Carl.

Marie’s family will receive friends on Thursday, March 27th from 10:00am until her Memorial Mass at 11:00am in the Church of St. Andrew, 81 Swamp Rd. Newtown, PA 18940.

Interment will be private at Calvary Cemetery, Cherry Hill, NJ.
