Antonietta (nee Pescatore) Spiritoso, of Pipersville, PA died peacefully on Thursday, February 1, 2018, with her family by her side.  She was 87.

She was the beloved wife of 28 years to Gaetano Spiritoso.

Born in Abington, PA, she was the daughter of Alexander and Maria Guiseppe Pescatore.

Antonietta was born in the United States, but spent the majority of her childhood living in her family’s home town of Paternopoli, Avellino, Italy.  At age 18, she returned with her mother to reunite with her father back in the States.  With little formal education, she overcame adversity and quickly learned English, building a life for herself in the family restaurant business.

Her time in Italy was most impactful for it was there where she learned the value of family, food, and tradition, values which she cultivated with her own children. Cooking was a true love and talent, highlighted by her long career as a Chef, both in the ownership of Alex’s Restaurant in Willow Grove, PA, and later in many other well-known restaurants near her family home in Huntingdon Valley, PA.  She was well known for her cooking prowess, leadership in the kitchen, and her strong work ethic.

A true family Matriarch, Antonietta loved to be surrounded by her family and Sunday dinners were a long time tradition. They focused on food, celebration, and her grandchildren, whom she cherished and adored.

In addition to her husband, she is also survived by her children Rosemarie Fisher and her husband Andy of Doylestown, Joann Bellucci of Horsham, John Bellucci and his wife Jeanne of Culpeper, VA, Dena McLaughlin and her husband Kevin of Doylestown, and her sister Maria Caporizzo of Maple Glen. She is also survived by her 6 grandchildren; Nicole, Maddy, Allie, Andrew, John and Katie.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing on Monday, February 5, 2018 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm in the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home 241 E. Butler Ave. (at Sandy Ridge Rd.) New Britain, PA 18901 and on Tuesday, in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 235 East State Street, Doylestown, PA from 10:00 a.m. until her Funeral Mass, 11:00 a.m.  Her interment will follow in Whitemarsh Memorial Park, Ambler.

Contributions in her memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 150 Monument Road, Suite 100, Bala Cynwyd, PA 19004.
