Charlotte M. Tanner of Ivyland and Newtown died peacefully on Sunday, January 28, 2018 at Pickering Manor, Newtown. She was 86.
Born and raised on Tyler Farms, Charlotte was the beloved wife of 62 years to the late William “Bill” Tanner who died in 2014 and daughter of the late John W. and Mary Scheiffer McNabb, sister and sister-in-law of the late Charles and Josephine McNabb and Anne Thompson.
Charlotte was a life long resident of Bucks County; she was a 1949 graduate of Council Rock High School and always tried to make her class reunions to keep in touch. She gave her love, time and talents to being a “Mother” and cherished that time. As her children grew and matured, she started volunteering her time at Doylestown Hospital and did that for over 23 years. An avid bingo player and supporter of the casino’s, she looked forward to playing a game of chance. Charlotte was known for her strength of character and support of family and friends and will be sadly missed.
Charlotte is survived by her 3 devoted children; William Tanner, III and his wife Laura Jean, Chianne M. Gourley and her husband Robert “Kim”, and Brett Tanner and his wife Mary Elizabeth. She is also survived by her brother J.W. McNabb and his wife Loretta, and a brother-in-law John Thompson. Eight devoted grandchildren: Christy (Sam), Crystal (Chris), Billy (Rikki), Rob (Lauren), Amber (Josh), Tommy, Matt and Corinne and six great grandchildren: Joe, Addison, Bryce, Everly, Lincoln and Cole.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewings on Wednesday evening, January 31st from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm and on Thursday, February 1st from 10:00 am until her Prayer Service 11:00 am in the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Rd. (at Holland Rd.) Richboro, PA 18954. Interment will follow at Union Cemetery in Richboro.
Charlotte’s family would appreciate, in lieu of flowers; contributions in her memory may be made to Pickering Manor, 226 N. Lincoln Ave., Newtown, PA 18940, in appreciation for the great care they provided her in the past 4 years.
