Irene DeLuca, of Holland, died peacefully on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at Chandler Hall Hospice in Newtown. She was 90 years old.
She was the beloved wife of the late Liberato “Lou” DeLuca for over 71 years.
Born in Nice, France, she was the daughter of the late Bartolomeo and Catarina Guadagnini Marro. She was also preceded in death by her 8 siblings.
A war bride of an American soldier, Irene was a courageous and adventurous woman. She arrived in the United States in 1946, and while she missed her family in the Alps, she quickly became part of the Bucks County community. She worked in the Bristol Township tax office as an information analyst and was a volunteer at St. Mary Medical Center for more than 25 years in the pharmacy.
Irene enjoyed gardening and knitting. She became part of the Patient Health Environments Program and would knit blankets for cancer patients and veterans. She also enjoyed upbeat music: Frank Sinatra, Perry Como, and country music; live entertainment, and upbeat television shows; and being around other people.
Irene will be greatly missed by her sons, Renato "Ron" S. DeLuca of Holland, PA and Edward P. DeLuca and his wife, Patricia, of Newtown, PA.
Relative and friends are invited to attend her visitation on Thursday, January 25, 2018 from 8:45am, until the start of her Prayer Service, 10:15am at the Joseph A. Fluehr, III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Rd, (at Holland Rd.) Richboro, PA 18954. Irene’s interment will follow at Washington Crossing National Cemetery in Newtown, PA.
