Helen Leah Schmidt
Helen Leah Schmidt of Newtown passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at Chandler Hall at just 104 years young.
She was born and grew up in Queens, NY. Helen was the daughter of the late George and Beatrice.
Helen moved to Bucks County 65 years ago when she married her husband, Charles O. Schmidt. She has lived in Feasterville, Ivyland, Ottsville, Doylestown, and Newtown.
Helen will be remembered fondly as a loving, caring mother, for her amazing memory, storytelling, kindness and good sense of humor . She was, and is, a remarkable inspiration of resilience and determination.
Helen is survived by her son, Charles Schmidt (Kathleen Zeiss); Patrick & Daniel Knowles; her nieces, Eleanor Messner and William, her husband, and Beth Leo; her nephew Robert Wallers and countless great friends in Doylestown, New Mexico and her wonderful caregivers at Chandler Hall in Newtown.
A private memorial gathering will be scheduled for a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Chandler Hall Employee Holiday Gift Fund, 99 Barclay St., Newtown, PA 18940 and in Helen’s true spirit give everyone you meet “a few kind words”.
