Donna Rose Boyko (nee Dellaporte), 69, of Holland, PA a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to all who knew her passed away January 7th. She is survived by her two children, Christina Rose (and her husband Ronald Chang) and Todd Michael; two grandchildren, Nathan Jia-Guo and Charlotte Rose Funing; her brother John Dellaporte, Jr.; and her sister Susan Weiss and her husband Daniel.
Donna’s husband, Walter Boyko Jr., preceded her in death June 8th 2015. Their lives together started with joy and laughter when they met while both dressed as clowns for the Gimbels’ Thanksgiving Day Parade in 1968. They enjoyed over 40 years of wedded bliss until Walter’s passing in 2015.
Donna grew up in the Germantown section of Philadelphia and attended St. Michael’s of the Saints. She is the daughter of Gloria (Taglianetti) and John P. Dellaporte. She is a graduate of Ancilla Domini class of 1966. She graduated from Gwynedd Mercy University (class of 1970).
Donna was a “people person”. She enjoyed working at the University of Pennsylvania and was employed for over 30 years in the on-campus housing department. Her kindness and easy demeanor allowed her to diffuse even the toughest situations. It also allowed her to make friends with just about anyone. In the last few years of her life, she and her new found friends became a permanent fixture at the Newtown Starbucks. In addition to spending time with family and friends, she loved spending summers at the Jersey Shore and traveling in both the US and abroad. She also loved history and current events, especially anything with the British Royal family.
Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate her life at St. Bede the Venerable Church, 1071 Holland Road, Holland, PA 18966 on Thursday January 11th. The viewing will be held from 10:30am to 12:30pm and mass will begin at 12:30pm. If you are comfortable doing so, please wear something other than black to the funeral. Donna wanted us to celebrate her life, not mourn her death. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Donna’s name to Ancillae-Assumpta Academy or the American Cancer Society.
