Samuel C. Long of Feasterville passed away on Sunday, December 10, 2017 at his home with his loving family by his side. He was 88.
Samuel was the husband of the late Grace M. Semple Long.
Born in Philadelphia he was the son of the late Samuel and Lena Braumbach Long.
Sam grew up in Philadelphia and was a graduate of Northeast High School where he was a Varsity Soccer player. After High School he worked various jobs with the Teamsters Local #107, he married his beloved Grace and then was called to serve in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict.
Upon returning home he continued working with the Teamsters but also returned to the soccer pitch. He played Professional Soccer in Philadelphia and was a member of the South Eastern Pennsylvania Hall of Fame. Throughout his life he kept in touch with the soccer ball keeping a careful eye on his sons when they played assisting them and guiding them along the way.
Never one to sit and relax, Sam loved to keep busy and work outside in his yard, doing landscaping and any masonry project he could find. His skills were not limited to his own home as he would volunteer and work at his church, doing whatever he could to help. His strong work ethic and dedication to his church will always be remembered by his family and friends.
Samuel is survived by his three children, Grace D. Long and her husband Pete Ciarlante of Newtown, Samuel Long and his wife Linda of Uniondale, PA and Dave Long of Ivyland. He is also survived by his four grandchildren; Melissa Long, Danielle Long, Ryan Long and Peter Ciarlante.
His family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, December 15, 2017 from 6:30 – 8:30 PM and on Saturday, December 16, 2017 from 9:00 AM until his Funeral Service 10:00 AM at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Rd. (at Holland Rd.), Richboro, PA 18954. His interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Feasterville.
