Joseph A. Dudek of Fairfax, VA and formerly a long time resident of Long Island passed away on Sunday, December 10, 2017; he was 93 years young.
Joe was the loving and devoted husband of 64 years to Jeanette Kozyra Dudek. In addition to his wife, Joe is survived by his daughters, Donna Dudek and Debbie Perreault and her husband, Rick. He also leaves behind his three grandchildren, Maggie, Katie and Joseph.
Born in Jamaica, NY he was the son of the late Joseph and Frances Dudek. He was the eldest of seven children and is survived by his brother Ed, and sister Teresa Goodis.
Joe served our country in the Navy as a ship fitter during WW II. More information on his service (photos and video) can be found at the Library of Congress at http://memory.loc.gov/diglib/vhp/bib/loc.natlib.afc2001001.10161. He was an active member of the Amvets in Massapequa.
He later went to work for the Grumman Corporation, starting as a plumber, and finishing after 37 years as a Building Manager for several properties in the Facilities Department. He was an avid golfer, playing every Wednesday in the Grumman Golf League. Post-retirement, he volunteered with the Care Cats, and was the President of the Grumman Retiree Club in 1999.
While an active member of St. James Parish in Seaford, he became a Knight of the Fourth degree at the local Knights of Columbus.
Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family on Sunday, December 17, 2017 from 5 to 7PM and on Monday, December 18, 2017 from 8:30 – 9:30 AM at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 241 E. Butler Ave. (at Sandy Ridge Rd.), New Britain, PA 18901. His Funeral Mass will follow in the Barn Chapel at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa, 654 Ferry Rd., Doylestown, PA 18901. His interment will follow in the adjacent Shrine cemetery.
