Robert F. Mahoney of Palm Beach Shores, FL., previously Philadelphia PA., died peacefully on December 9, 2017, at Good Samaritan Medical Center, FL. He was 91years young.
Robert was the beloved husband of 58 years to the late Marie L. Mercadante Mahoney.
Born in Chester, PA, he was the son of the late Francis and Blanche Smith Mahoney.
Robert spent the majority of his adult life in the Mayfair section of Philadelphia, before moving to Florida. He was a proud Veteran of the US Navy having served during World War II, where he served as a motor machinist. Upon returning home he capitalized on the skills he learned in the Navy, taking a position with PECO as a truck mechanic. Over the years, he enjoyed boating, camping, traveling and spending time with his family.
In 1994, Robert retired to beautiful Palm Beach Shores, Florida. He was outgoing, friendly and quick to make a friend, especially when he was out cruising on his tricked out scooter. He enjoyed sitting by the water watching the boats coming in through the inlet, exercising in the pool and frequenting many wonderful restaurants in the area.
He is survived by his three children, Jean Hunt of Philadelphia PA, John Mahoney and his wife Patty of Eugene OR., and Kathy Heck and her husband Eric of North Wales PA., also his two brothers; Richard Mahoney and his wife Pattie and Jack Mahoney. He is also survived by his 5 grandchildren Michael, Mekaela, Michael, Robert and Amanda and 6 great-grandchildren; Zane, Cisco, Kaya, Kylar, Dean and Jackson.
His family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, December 30, 2017 from 9:00AM until his Funeral Mass 10:00 AM at Mary, Mother of the Redeemer Church, 1325 Upper State Road, North Wales, PA. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Bensalem, PA
