Send Time to CalendarCarla M Klouda (nee Manzi), aged 76, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, November 30, 2017.
Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Carla was the daughter of Jeanne and the late Jack (John) Manzi; she is survived by Kenneth Klouda, her husband of 54 years, devoted daughter April Brade and her husband Todd, and son Michael Klouda and his wife, Julie. She also leaves behind six grandchildren: Colleen, Sarah, Owen, Laura, Joelle, and Michael, as well as her sister, Jackie, her mother, Jeanne, and several nieces and nephews.
Carla graduated summa cum laude from Ohio State University with a degree in education and taught in special education for many years. She and her family became heavily involved in competitive roller figure skating, and Carla competed at a national level. She later worked for many years as a copywriter in the medical education industry, but her true love was being an artist. Carla, a well-known landscape and nature photographer, appeared in many juried shows, ran workshops, and mentored other artists. She was a member and assistant director of The Upstairs Gallery in Peddler's Village, and her most recent show was a Three Generations Exhibit where she displayed her artwork alongside artwork of her daughter-in-law Julie and granddaughter Laura.
Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family on Monday, December 18th from 10:00 am until her memorial service at 11:00 am at Church of the Open Door, 1260 Fort Washington Avenue Fort Washington, PA 19034. Interment will be held privately on December 15th.
