John R. Wilson Sr. of Holland died Sunday, December 3, 2017 at Chandler Hall Hospice in Newtown. He was 87.

John was the beloved husband of the late Carmella Messa Wilson and is survived by his son John R. Wilson Jr. and his wife Donna Hill of Huntingdon Valley. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late John and Freda Bethard Wilson and the brother of the late Hilda Andersen and Betty Cantiello.

John was a former resident of Northeast Philadelphia and Hackettstown, New Jersey before moving to Holland in 1979. He was a former program developer with the Department of the Army at the Frankford Arsenal in Philadelphia and also in Wharton, New Jersey until his retirement in 1985. Shortly after his retirement, John went to work with the Council Rock School District in their transportation department as a bus driver until he again retired in 2009. He was a proud veteran of the US Army and cared and loved all animals especially golden retrievers. John will be deeply missed by his family and by all who came to know him.

Relatives and friend are invited to attend his viewing on Friday, December 8th from 9:00am until his Funeral Service 11:00am in the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Road (at Holland Rd.) Richboro, PA 18954. John’s interment will follow in William Penn Cemetery in Philadelphia.

 

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Delaware Valley Golden Retriever Rescue, 60 Vera Cruz Road, Reinholds, PA 17569.
