Joan M. Fraley (nee Durkin), age 71, of Langhorne, Pa., died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, November 29, 2017.
Born in Philadelphia to the late Thomas P. and Ida Durkin, she is survived by Dan, her husband of 44 years, devoted son Brian (Kristy) and three grandchildren Brianna, Brayden, and Brooklynne, sisters Catherine “Kitty” Campbell (John), Patricia Golden (Eddie), and Rita Durkin, and several nieces and nephews.
Joan was a devout Catholic that loved music, dancing, boating, and the beach, and also belonged to softball, tennis, and bowling teams. She spent her career working for the City of Philadelphia, a major law firm, and the former Thomas M. Durkin & Sons, a construction firm founded by her grandfather. Joan will be revered as a loyal wife, a dedicated mother and grandmother, and a passionate defender of old school values with an uncommonly strong sense of morality.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Joan’s Interment Service at precisely 1:30 p.m. on December 6, 2017 at Washington Crossing National Veterans Cemetery, 830 Highland Road, Newtown, PA 18940.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made payable to the County of Bucks for the benefit of the Bucks County Veterans Transportation Fund, c/o Bucks County Department of Veterans Affairs, 1260 Almshouse Rd. Doylestown, PA 18901.
