Walter S. Farley, Jr. of Warminster, PA, died on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at the Rose Garden at Ann’s Choice after a long illness.  He was 91 years. He is survived by his wife Maggie Goyne Farley.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was predeceased by his parents Walter S. Sr., and Edith Young Farley, his son Walter D. Farley, stepson David B. Klock and his sisters Edith Brown, Dorothy Morgan, Sara Gray and Helen Michalian.

Walter was a life-long resident of Bucks County. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was honorably discharged in 1943.

A registered professional engineer, he held degrees from Northwestern University and Drexel University. He worked for 13 years at Philadelphia Electric Company and taught engineering as an Adjunct Professor at Drexel Evening College.

While his occupation was electrical engineering, his passion was politics. He served as an elected official in Middletown Township for many years and served an 8 year term as a Bucks County Commissioner in the 1960’s. While a Commissioner, he played a key role in bringing  the Community College to reality. He made an unsuccessful bid for Congress in 1966.

In the early 70’s, he was a founding partner in the firm of Stratton-Farley which in 1980 became Dawson Engineering, specializing in forensics. He led and grew that successful firm until retiring in 2006 at the age of 80. He and Maggie then moved to Ann’s Choice in Warminster to enjoy retirement with friends and family. An eternal optimist, his enthusiastic reply to “How are you?” was always a resounding “Fan-tas-tic!”

In addition to his wife of  31years, he is survived by his step-children  Lisa Klock Farrell, Kristopher Klock (Germaine), Sara Bush (Patrick), Alison Secoda (Robert) and his grandchildren, Laura Klock, Leslie Klock, Amanda deShields (Matt), Samantha Bush, Stephanie Secoda and Staci Secoda, all of whom he loved as his own. It was a bittersweet day for the family as the first great grandson Lincoln entered this world just a few hours before Walter departed it.

A Quaker service celebrating the life of Walter will be held Saturday, December 2, 2017 at 2:00pm in the Chapel at Ann’s Choice, 30000 Ann’s Choice Way Warminster, PA 18940.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Walter’s memory may be made to either the Alzheimer’s Association, 399 Market St. Suite 102 Philadelphia, PA 19106 or to the Canine Partners for Life, 334 Faggs Manor Rd., Cochranville, PA 19330.
