David Michael Ivins of Oakford died peacefully on Sunday, October 29, 2017 in his residence. He was 68.
Born in Abington, PA, David was the son of the late Raymond C. and Irene Stewart Ivins.
David grew up in Feasterville and was a graduate of Neshaminy High School where he excelled in football and track. He was a member of the state championship 4 by 4 relay team whose record stood for many years. Shortly after graduation, David enlisted in the Army and proudly served 2 years in Vietnam for our country. David worked for many years at the Philadelphia Ship Yard and the Tobyhanna Army Depot. But most recently he worked on the electrical components for large wind turbines at the Gamesa Company in Fairless Hills.
He was an avid motorcyclist who enjoyed rides throughout the countryside with Barbara on his Triumph Motorcycle. David enjoyed time spent in the sun, surf, and the company of friends and family at his favorite Jersey Shore destination, Cape May. David will be greatly missed, but eternally loved by everyone who had the pleasure to have had him in their lives.
David is survived by his loving son David J. Ivins of Oakford and his three grandchildren Javin, Amber, and Caleb. He is also survived by his dear friend and partner Barbara Yerkes, his beloved sisters: Nancy I. Jackson, Connie E. Frenette and her husband Jean, Barbara E. Sailer and her husband Martin, and Susan D. Brunner and her husband John, and his numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend David’s Interment Service with Military Honors precisely at 12:45PM on Friday, November 10, 2017 at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Road, Newtown, PA 18940.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.
