Esther Jamison Fromuth of Southampton, and formerly of Feasterville and Trevose, died peacefully at the age of 91 on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at Southampton Estates.
She was the beloved wife of the late Harry C. Fromuth, Jr. for 64 years. She was the daughter of the late William and Elva Blinn Jamison, and the mother of the late Mary Alford (d. August 14, 2017).
Born in 1926 on the Jamison family farm near Newtown, Esther was a life-long resident of Bucks County, later residing in Feasterville and Trevose for 63 years before moving to Southampton in early 2014. She was a graduate of Richboro High School, class of 1944, and received a degree in Education and Home Economics in 1948 from Penn State University. Esther was employed by the Neshaminy School District for 20 years, first as a full time elementary school teacher from 1948 to 1951, and then as a substitute teacher while she and her husband Harry raised their three children.
Esther was a member of the North and Southampton Reformed Church, and prior to that was a member of the Feasterville Community Reformed Church. She faithfully participated in and supported church activities throughout her lifetime. She also volunteered with her husband Harry to prepare and deliver Meals on Wheels and was a volunteer for many years with the St. Mary Medical Center.
Esther and her husband took their children on annual family camping trips, and later traveled throughout North America and Europe. She was an excellent cook and prepared delicious meals for her family as well as for holiday and birthday celebrations. Esther also loved music and enjoyed playing the piano. Most of all, she enjoyed being with her family. She supported her growing children in all their activities, and later her grandchildren and great grandchildren brought her great pride and happiness.
Esther loved her family and treasured her friends. She had a peaceful, generous manner that was recognized and appreciated by all who knew her. Her warmth built friendships and strengthened communities wherever she lived, and her love of children opened their hearts to her. Her simple acts of kindness made countless days brighter, and she left a legacy of goodness for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Esther is survived by her 2 sons, Richard K. Fromuth and his wife, Marion Cavallaro of Yardley and Robert C. Fromuth and his wife, Michelle Wolfe, of Landenberg, PA. In addition, she is survived by her eight loving grandchildren: Maggie Mitchell and her husband Josh; Christopher Fromuth; Michael Fromuth and his wife Kathryn; Kelly Fromuth; Robin Brennan and her husband Thomas; Robert Fromuth; Patrick Fromuth; and Matthew Alford and his fiancée Lauren Berardo. She is survived as well by her 3 great grandchildren; Ryan Fromuth, Nora Brennan and Isaac Mitchell. She is also survived by her brother Walter Jamison and his wife Polly of Newtown, and 2 sisters-in-law; Eleanor Clayton (late Carlton) of Southampton and Katherine Heritage (late Alfred) of Holland.
Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family on Saturday October 28, 2017 from 12 Noon until a memorial service for Esther at 1:00pm at the North & Southampton Reformed Church, 1386 Bristol Road, Churchville, PA 18966. Interment will follow in Churchville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Esther’s memory may be made to North & Southampton Reformed Church at the above address.
