George J. Ball of Bensalem, died peacefully on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at Aria-Jefferson Health, Torresdale Campus at the age of 72.
George was the beloved husband of, 49 years, to Lorraine DeNofa Ball. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late John and Clara Berke Ball, brother of the late Barbara R. Pinciotti-Drager and son in law of the late Joseph DeNofa.
George was a resident of Bensalem for the past 46 years. He was a graduate of Jules E. Mastbaum Area Vocational/Technical School, class of 1963, and Hussian Art School in Philadelphia. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps.
George, had a variety of careers through out his life, but for over 35 years he was an independent consultant; working with many of the Automobile Dealers and Body Shops in the greater Delaware Valley as a Custom Car Artist. He enhanced the curves and lines of every vehicle, motorcycle, or boat he touched with hand painted pin striping, initials, and custom graphics. His artistic skills were also used to design custom signs and logos for various businesses in the area. But it wasn’t just new cars that George worked on or was familiar with. He was well regarded by antique car dealers and traders for his keen eye in determining a car’s value.
George had a personality that people appreciated; as it was honest and sincere. He enjoyed the company of others, was quite the conversationalist and was always quick to offer a helping hand. For the past 15 years he enjoyed utilizing these traits as a ceremonial assistant with the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home and as a driver for Park Avenue Limousines.
An avid history buff, George was well versed in American and European History. He was an expert Gunsmith and could repair almost any pistol or rifle you put on his work table. He enjoyed watching the Philadelphia sports teams, supporting them through all the peaks and valleys.
His quick wit and one-liners will long be remembered by those who heard them and will continue to provide smiles, smirks, and snickers for many years to come.
In addition to his beloved wife Lorraine; George is survived by his children; Josette Ball and Jim Grinstead; Joseph Ball and his wife Andrea; his 4 grandchildren; Erika, Joey and Rocky Ball, and Jimmy Grinstead; as well as his mother-in-law Rose DeNofa.
George’s family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, August 31, 2017 from 6:00pm until his Memorial Service at 8:00pm at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home 800 Newtown-Richboro Rd. (at Holland Rd.) Richboro. His interment will be held privately.
