Evelyn M. Davin of Newtown passed away on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at Buckingham Valley Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in Newtown. She was 89.
Evelyn was the beloved wife of the late Phillip J. Davin and mother of the late Phillip Davin.
Born in New York, NY, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Margaret Lamb Ricker.
Evelyn spent much of her life living in the Bronx, NY before relocating to Bucks County in 1987. She was an avid reader and had worked for many years at Party Fair in Newtown, retiring in 2007.
Evelyn lived with her daughter Tilly and her husband Bob and their children for 30+ years. She provided much love and support to her grandchildren in their young and formative years. She could often be found at any gym, soccer or baseball field watching and rooting for her grandchildren. Her laughter was infectious and she enjoyed all of the daily activities of her grandchildren and their friends. She was known by all as “Nan”---the sweetest woman ever.
In addition to her grandchildren, she also loved and took care of the family pets—Golden Retrievers—Mandy and Tucker who are waiting for her at the Rainbow Bridge for some treats. Kali, our 8 year old Golden, misses her dearly and sits on the couch in Nan’s favorite spot.
Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Mathilda “Tilly” Bagnell and her husband, Robert and her adoring grandchildren, Robert James Bagnell, Jr. and his wife, Meghan, Allison Bailey and her husband, Maurice, and Daniel Patrick Bagnell and his fiancé Kristin Chalela. She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren, Mason, Avery, Turner, and Cassidy; her sister, Jessie Sherman; and her nephew, Thomas Sherman and his wife, Sapna.
In addition to her husband and her son, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Wallace and Charles Ricker.
Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family on Tuesday, August 1, 2017 from 10:30 AM until her Funeral Mass 11:30 AM at the Church of St. Andrew, 81 Swamp Rd., Newtown, PA 18940. Her interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Evelyn’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105 or to Disabled American Veterans, PO Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301.
