Berta C. Hasenknopf Madonna of Doylestown and formerly of Furlong passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at Pine Run Healthcare Center.  She was 93.

Berta was the beloved wife of the late Louis G. Madonna, D.D.S. with whom she had shared 56 years of marriage.

Born in Bad Reichenhall, Germany she was a daughter of the late Lorenz and Philomeno Esterl.

Berta was raised in the German Alps and came to the United States in 1953 aboard the S.S. United States.  She went on to work for the Mayfair Diner and it was there where she learned the English Language on her own by taking customer’s orders.

She loved birds, was a talented gardener and she also enjoyed cross country skiing.  Berta had a zest for life and kept very active, especially in spending time with her adoring grandchildren.  She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Berta is survived by her sons, Louis E. Madonna, G. Thomas Madonna and his wife, Jodi; her grandchildren, Alicia and Thomas Madonna; and her sister, Evi Vichtbauer.

Relatives and friends are invited to greet Berta’s family on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 from 10:00 AM until her Funeral Service 11:00 AM at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Rd. (at Holland Rd.), Richboro, PA 18954.  Her interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Feasterville.
