Joseph F. Finnerty Jr. passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on July 1, 2017 at his residence in Holland, PA. He was 88.

Born and raised in Philadelphia, Joseph was the beloved husband to the late Ann B. Wesner Finnerty and the late Bernice J. Wrick Finnerty, son to the late Joseph F. Finnerty Sr. and Rose A. Brennan Finnerty and brother of the late Hugh “Bud” Finnerty.

Joseph and his family resided in Willingboro, NJ for several years before moving to Richboro, PA in 1968. He loved his job and spent his entire career with Conrail, the former Reading Railroad. He was also a proud Army veteran.

He enjoyed every moment spent with his grandchildren, and his great grandchildren. He made sure that their lives were full of new experiences, including trips to Iceland, Scandinavia, VA Beach and Disney World. A generous and thoughtful man, he was the foundation of the family.

Joseph is survived by his 3 loving children; Joan Shilling and her husband William, Joseph Finnerty and his wife Colleen, and Eileen Smith and her husband Daniel. He will be greatly missed by his many grandchildren; Erin Rowse and her husband Craig, Kimberly Bailey and her husband Eric, Bethany Clarkson and her husband Nicholas, Tami Ahern and her husband Chris, Joseph Finnerty and his wife Kourtney, Timothy Shilling and his wife Maureen, Susie Freifelder and her husband Brian, and Ryan Finnerty and his wife Kasie; and his 21 great grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to greet Joseph’s family on July 8th, 2017 from 10:00AM until his funeral mass 11:00AM at St. Bede the Venerable Church, 1071 Holland Rd., Holland, PA. Interment will follow at St. John Neumann Cemetery, Chalfont, PA.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Joseph’s name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
