Albert E. “Ernie” Myatt of Holland, and formerly a 28 year resident of Newtown, passed away on Sunday, June 25, 2017, with his loving wife and family by his side. He was 86.
Ernie was the beloved husband of 63 years to Jeanette D. Pressnell Myatt.
Born in Portsmouth, England, he was the son of the late Harry and Annie Watson Myatt.
Ernie attended the Duke of York’s Royal Military School from age 11 until graduation, and went on to complete Officer’s Training, followed by five years of service to the British Army, during which time he was stationed in Africa.
Ernie later met his sweetheart, Jeanette. The two were married in Dover, England in 1954 and immigrated to the United States in 1955, where Ernie led a successful career as a purchasing agent for Newman Paper Company in Philadelphia, retiring after 40 years. He enjoyed golfing, tennis, and most of all spending time with his adoring family, who will miss him dearly.
In addition to his wife, Ernie is survived by his daughters, Nicola Laich and her husband, David, and Allison Miele and her husband, Andrew; his grandchildren, David Laich and his wife, Heather, and Diana Sutton and her husband, Christopher; and his great-grandchildren, Charles, Hannah, and Sadie Sutton and Miles Laich. Ernie also leaves his brother, Leslie “Scott” Myatt and his wife, Anne; his loving niece and nephews; and his devoted friends, Tommy and Diane Ronan and Millie and Joe Cepparulo.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Catherine “Renee” Sieruc.
Relatives and friends are invited to greet Ernie’s family on Thursday, June 29, 2017, from 10:00 AM until his Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM at the Church of St. Andrew, 81 Swamp Rd., Newtown, PA 18940. His interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Ernie’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association, 399 Market St., Suite 102, Philadelphia, PA 19106.
