He was survived by his beloved children, Tracy L. Emilius (Carl III), Kelly A. Nise  (Daniel Hieber), Jennifer A. Robinson  (Joseph), Kimberly N. Russo  (Michael Jr.), Gregory W. Nise  (Carlos Sosa), and Ashley E. Cassel  (Christopher); his caring step-children Jason T. Ryan  (Suzanne), Jeffrey C. Ryan (Nina) and Courtney J. George started his professional  career as a Pennsylvania Senior Bank Examiner until he joined Beneficial Savings Bank in 1970. He led Beneficial Bank to expansion in the local communities to better serve its customers through outstanding service and a “hometown” presence. In January 2007, he retired as President and CEO of Beneficial after providing 37 years of valuable insight regarding business and bank operations.

As an active member of the community, George was affiliated with the American Heart Association, Archdiocese of Philadelphia, Police Athletic League, Citizens Crime Commission, the Hero Scholarship Fund of Philadelphia, and the Union League of Philadelphia, to name just a few. George served as a member on several Boards, including Beneficial Savings Bank, Holy Redeemer Health System, Holy Family University, Pennsylvania Association of Community Banks and the Comprehensive Learning Center. He assisted in the banking community outside of Beneficial by working with the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia, the Pennsylvania Bankers Association, the Financial Managers Society and the Bank Administration Institute. His extraordinary work in the community had led him to be the recipient of several honors and awards, such as the Eagles Fly for Leukemia Corporate Recipient in 2001, the Police Athletic League award in 2004 and the CYO Hall of Fame in 2007.

George was a true family man devoted to his spouses, his children, and especially his grandchildren, who were the sparkle in his eyes.
