Charles J. Gerstenbacher of Newtown, PA passed away surrounded by his family on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at The Hospital of Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia. He was 76 years old.
He was the beloved husband of Nancy Myers Gerstenbacher for nearly 44 years.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Charles F. and Laura Austin Gerstenbacher.
Chuck was a proud member of the Philadelphia police force, retiring in 1985 after 23 years of service. He then worked at the Inglis House front desk for many years. With his outgoing personality, he became a friend and confidant to many of the residents.
Friends and family were his priority. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle throughout Bucks County, Southern New Jersey and the tri-state area with his friends and Doo Wop dancing on Saturday nights with Nancy was a long-time routine.
In addition to his wife, Nancy, Chuck will be missed by his son and daughter-in-law, Chase and Noelle Gerstenbacher and his daughter and son-in-law, Jen and Tony Rosborough; and his grandchildren, Bennett, Nolan, Dylan and Baby Gerstenbacher, who will be born in November. He is also survived by his “sister” Gail Martin, and her husband, Tom.
Charles’ funeral service was held privately at the Washington Crossing National Cemetery in Newtown, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
