Elizabeth H. “Betty” Dacey, of Langhorne, PA and formerly of North Cape May, NJ died on Thursday, May 11, 2017. She was 92.

Born and raised in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late William C. and Elizabeth (Gorman) McGinly. Betty graduated from Olney High School. She proudly served in the United States Navy in the WAVES during WWII. Betty’s dedication to her country and to the recognition of women in uniform continued through her support of the Women in Military Service for America Memorial in Washington D.C. She was proud to be a founding contributor to that memorial.

Betty was married to the late James Dacey for 61 years. They raised their seven children in their Levittown home, where the door was always open to the many neighborhood kids. She was a longtime resident of Levittown and parishioner of Queen of the Universe Catholic Church and later lived in Northern Virginia before retiring to Cape May.

Throughout her life Betty enjoyed days at the beach with family and friends. She loved watching sports especially the Phillies and college basketball, but she got the most joy out of cheering for her kids and others from the bleachers and the sidelines. Her interest in sports started at a young age with horseback riding, ice skating and bowling and is known for having bowled a perfect game. Betty truly enjoyed being in the know and getting updated with “any news” of extended family and friends.

During her time in Cape May Betty volunteered with several organizations to include the Christ Child Society, an organization that provides comfort items for needy infants and children in Cape May County. She was an active volunteer at her church and put in many long hours working the polls each election day well into her later years.

Betty was the devoted mother of James (Janette), Michael (Kathie), Steve (Cindy), Denise, Jack (Judy), Nance Dunn (Mike), and Beth. She was also blessed with 12 loving grandchildren, Jaime-Lyn, Andrew, Steven R. (Susan), Molly, Drew, Bryan, Nina, Kelly, Meghan, Shane, Shawn, and Steven; and her great-granddaughter Riley.

Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family on Monday, May 15, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown Richboro Road, (at Holland Rd.) Richboro, PA 18954 and on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at the Church of St. Andrew, 81 Swamp Rd., Newtown, PA 18940 from 12:00 Noon until her Funeral Mass 1:00 PM. Her interment with military honors will follow in the Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown.
