Vivian M. Bourcet died peacefully at her home with her two daughters by her side on Sunday, May 7, 2017. She was a youthful 96 years old.
Vivian was the devoted wife of the late William J. Bourcet.
Born in McIntyre, PA she was a coal miners’ daughter of Michele (Michael) Bertolino and Giovanna (Jenny) Terrana Bertolino and sister of the late Margaret Vertucci, Charles Bertolino, Joseph Bertolino, Anthony Bertolino, Thomas Bertolino, and Anne Romano.
Vivian spent much of her life in Maspeth, NY and once married she resided in Albertson, NY. She was an active member of St. Aidan’s Parish in Williston Park, NY and was a member of the Mother’s Club, Rosary Society, Altar Society, and Catholic Daughters of America.
She loved her time on the bowling league through St. Aidan’s as well as reading, walking, knitting and sewing. Her love for children prompted her to volunteer in St. Aidan’s School library as well as serving as a classroom aide at the Human Resources School in Albertson, NY. She was also an active member of the Association for the Help of Retarded Children (AHRC) and modeled at their annual fundraising fashion shows.
As a young widow, she worked at Chase Manhattan Bank in the Credit Card Division in New Hyde Park, NY from 1974 until her retirement in 1980. In 2005 Vivian moved back to Pennsylvania and was a fond member of St. Bede the Venerable Church in Holland, PA.
Surviving are her daughters, Linda M. Bourcet and Elaine B. Reitmeier and her husband, Glenn A. Reitmeier; her grandchildren, Eric W. Reitmeier and Jennifer A. Reitmeier; and her siblings, Salvatore Bertolino, Liberty Bertolino, and Marie Quis.
Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family on Thursday, May 11, 2017 from 10:00 AM until her Funeral Mass 11:00 AM at St. Bede the Venerable Church, 1071 Holland Rd., Holland, PA 18966. Her interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to St. Katharine Drexel Regional Catholic School, 1071 Holland Road, Holland, PA 18966 or to St. Charles Borromeo Seminary, 100 Wynewood Ave., Wynewood, PA 19006.
