Allan Jay Shaftel, of Langhorne, Pennsylvania died peacefully on Saturday, April 29, 2017, at Chandler Hall. His devoted family was at his side.

Allan is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Natalie Hacku Shaftel as well as his 5 children and their spouses, Cynthia and Bruce Nathan, Michael Shaftel, Hal and Jennifer Shaftel, Benjamin and Alison Shaftel, and Jennifer and Aric Rentschler. He is also survived by his 10 devoted grandchildren, Julia, Hannah, Katrina, Chase, Beckett, Emma, Gavin, Nolan, Colin, and Finley. He will be greatly missed.

Allan was born in Brooklyn, NY. He was the loving son of the late Jules and Fae Halpern Shaftel.

Allan was a proud veteran of the United States Army and served in France during the years 1954-1956. He attended Long Island University and earned a degree in accounting. Allan had been president and the chief executive officer of UMC Electronics, Inc. in North Haven, Connecticut. After leaving UMC Electronics, Allan commenced a proud and illustrious career at the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia, becoming its Chief Financial Officer. Following his retirement in 2000, Allan became a consultant for the EHL Consulting Firm.

Allan was a high school varsity basketball player, a skier, and a yachtsman, and in later years he continued to enjoy watching most sports. He treasured the times he got to spend with his beloved children and grandchildren.

Visitation for friends and family will be held on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 from 10:30- 12:00 at the Joseph A. Fluehr 111 Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Road, Richboro, PA 18954.  A Funeral Service will follow at 12:00 PM. A private burial will take place at Washington Crossing National Cemetery in Newtown, PA.
