John Calvitti, Jr., 92, of Chalfont, passed away on April 17, 2014 with his loving wife and family by his side.

He was the beloved husband of 63 years to Marie Romano Calvitti.

Born in West Chester, he was a son of the late John and Josephine Rossi Calvitti; father of the late John Calvitti, III and brother of the late Joseph, Edward, and Robert Calvitti.

John was a graduate of Germantown High School and went on to serve four years proudly with the U.S. Navy as a Carpenter’s Mate, 2nd class. He later founded the John Calvitti Co. where he worked as a general contractor and cooling tower specialist. He also served many years on the Board of Directors for Gaudenzia House. In addition, John was an avid tennis player, and greatly enjoyed his work, art, and cars. Above all, what he treasured most was the time he spent with his family.

In addition to his wife John is survived by his children, Edward Calvitti (Cynthia), Richard Calvitti (Eileen), Elisa Marx (John); his sisters, Nina Turzi and Ethel Paglione; his grandchildren, Mia, John IV, Eric (Christine), Mark, John III (Marissa), Richard, and Paige; and his great-grandchildren, Tyler, William, and Tessa.

John’s family would like to acknowledge Frank and Anne DelPiano who provided many years of care and support. They would especially like to extend their gratitude to Leigh Ann Smith for her compassion and dedication, which was heavily relied on through his latter years. Her positive impact on the family, through patience, love and kindness, will never be forgotten.

Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family on Friday April 25 from 9 am until his memorial service at 10 am at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 241 E. Butler Ave. (at Sandy Ridge Rd.), New Britain, PA 18901.

Interment will follow in St. John Neumann Cemetery, Chalfont.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in John’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association of the Delaware Valley at 399 Market St., Ste. 102, Philadelphia, PA 19106.
