Norman “Gordon” Dash Jr., of Hatboro died peacefully on Monday March 27, 2017. He was 80 years old.
Born in Philadelphia, Gordon was the beloved husband to Elsa Lee Dash for 57 years and the son of the late Norman Gordon, Sr. and Mary Pauline Vollmer Dash.
Upon graduating from Olney High School in 1954, Gordon worked at Philadelphia National Bank and attended Temple University. He then enlisted in the United States Army. He worked for Mobil Oil Corporation in Valley Forge and eventually retired as a Credit Manager from their office in Malvern. Gordon met the love of his life at Somerton United Methodist Church. Gordon and Elsa started a family while being members at the church in Somerton and eventually they moved to Hatboro and joined Lehman Memorial United Methodist Church. Gordon was a tremendous baseball pitcher in high school who was invited to tryout for the Philadelphia Phillies. In addition to baseball, Gordon enjoyed watching Football and cheering for the Philadelphia Eagles. He took great pride in flying his American flag, and taking care of his property and vehicles. Gordon had a voice that everybody enjoyed listening to especially when he was delivering the punch line to one of his numerous jokes. Gordon will be greatly missed, but forever loved by everyone who has had the pleasure to call him their husband, dad, brother, granddad, uncle and friend.
In addition to his beloved wife, Gordon is survived by his loving children: Jennifer Rittenhouse and her husband Bill of Yardley and Robert Gordon Dash of Newtown. He is also survived by his sister Carolyn Wolf (Richard) and his dear grandchildren Emily and Wesley Rittenhouse.
Gordon’s family will receive friends on Saturday, April 1, 2017 from 10:00am to 11:00AM at the Lehman Memorial United Methodist Church, 300 South York Rd Hatboro, PA 19040, with a Memorial Service following.
In lieu of flowers contributions in his memory may be made to either the American Cancer Society at 1626 Locust St. Philadelphia, PA 19103 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
