Charles D. Baxter of Douglassville, PA died Tuesday, March 21, 2017 he was 85.

Charles was the beloved husband of 54 years to the late Anita T. Hogan Baxter.

Born in Philadelphia, Charles was the son of the late John P. and Marie Schank Baxter.

Charles was a former resident of Parkwood Manor section of Northeast Philadelphia, before moving to Chalfont and most recently Douglassville, PA.  He had graduated from Northeast High School, Class of 1950 and had attended St. Joseph’s University. Charles was the Assistant Business Manager for the Glaziers Local 252 for many years. He was a proud veteran of the US Navy serving during the Korean War and was part of the under-water demolition team. He also served as an original crew member on the USS Mitcher DL2 as an IC Electrician.  Charles was the founder of the Jardel Weight Lifting Club in Philadelphia and a former Scout Master for the Boy Scout Troop #477. He was a football coach for Parkwood Youth Organization and was an avid swimmer at the Philadelphia Aquatic Club and enjoyed scuba diving. He was very family oriented and enjoyed special times spent with his children and grandchildren. Charles will be remembered for all his good deeds and will be deeply missed by his loving family.

Charles is survived by his loving children, Anne Marie Keenan and her husband, Thomas, of Philadelphia, Theresa Gardner and her husband, Jeff, of Warrington,  Matthew Baxter and his wife, Carolyn of Richboro,  Anita Muehleisen and her husband, Joseph, of Douglassville, PA, Charles D. Baxter, Jr. and his wife, Jackie, of Glassboro, NJ, his sister Roberta Taylor of Lindenwold, NJ,  his 11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family on Saturday, March 25th from 9:30am until his Funeral Mass 11:30am in St. Anselm Church, 12670 Dunksferry Road, Philadelphia, PA 19154. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery in Bensalem. 

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to St Anselm Church or to St. Columbkill Church, 200 Indian Spring Road, Boyertown, PA 19512, Attn: Handicapped Entrance Renovation.
