Mary R. Dietrich, (formerly Rogers) of Hatboro (formerly of Doylestown), died peacefully on Thursday, March 16, 2017.
She was the beloved wife of the late Raymond H. Dietrich and the late Edwin J. Rogers, Jr. and mother of the late Bruce J. Rogers.
Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Francis L. and Mary Gaffney Heaney.
Mary was a native of Philadelphia but traveled and lived in Japan, Delaware, Thailand, Alabama and then finally back to Pennsylvania. She grew up with music in her family. She went to Broadway shows as a young girl and she loved show tunes. She played the piano and she also sang. She sang while doing housework, she sang in the church choir, she sang in local theater productions. She sang with her sister at weddings and at nursing homes. Her second husband was a musician, and she sang with his band, The Merry Men with Mary Dee. Mary also enjoyed performing with her sister Eileene’s group, The Norte Dame Players and they held many musicals through the years along with occasional performances at Nursing Homes. All of her kids inherited her love of music, but Frank is the only one who ever actually learned to play an instrument. Mary was a friend to many, and she treasured her family.
Mary was the epitome of a lady. Through her many years at Luther Woods Nursing Home, it was often said, " she never complained, always had a smile on her face and would light up when you entered her room" and she will be remembered by those whose lives she touched.
She is survived by her children; Michael F. Rogers and his wife Diane, Mark A. Rogers and his wife Mary, Mary A. Langston and her husband Gordon M. Vincent J. Rogers, Jr. and Stephanie Henry, Frank J. Rogers and Kimberly Mumper, her step children; Raymond H. Dietrich Jr., Clinton L. Dietrich, Susan E. Koury, her brother Joseph Heaney and his wife Lillian, and her sister Eileene H. Donnelly and the late Francis L. Heaney, Jr. She is also survived by her 10 dear grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and 5 step grandchildren and 1 step great granddaughter and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing on Friday, March 24, 2017from 10:00am until her Funeral Mass 11:00am at Mary Mother of the Redeemer Church 1325 Upper State Rd. North Wales, PA 19454. Her interment will follow in St. John Neumann Cemetery, Chalfont.
