Elizabeth “Betty” R. Killackey of Yardley passed away Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at Chandler Hall in Newtown. She was 81.
Betty was the beloved wife of the late John Gabriel Killackey of Yardley. Born in Yonkers, New York, Betty was the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary McGuirk Combs and the mother of the late Joseph P. Killackey of Philadelphia.
Betty survived 33 years of Parkinson’s Disease with grace, bravery and fortitude. She was an inspiration to all that knew her and she refused to let her illness define her. She was a devoted friend, a fervent reader of books, an avid fan of baseball and was famous for her sweet tooth. She was deeply loved and will be sorely missed by all of her family and those who knew her.
Betty is survived by her children, John Killackey, Jr. of Morrisville, Elizabeth Killackey, Esq. (Jeffrey Soderberg, Esq.) of Wayne, Patrick Killackey (Elizabeth Fraser) of Brooklyn, Dr. Mary Killackey (John DeCell) of New Orleans and Brendan Killackey of Doylestown. She is also survived by her cherished sister Ann Nehrbauer of Hastings, NY and Maggie Killackey of Wayne, NJ. She was the adored grandmother of John, Rachel, Brian, Daniel, Margaux, Tommy, Katherine, Matthew, Amelia, Michael, Will and Charlotte.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewings, Friday, March 10th from 6:00-8:00pm in the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Rd. (at Holland Rd.) Richboro, PA 18954 and on Saturday, March 11th in the Church of St. Andrew, 81 Swamp Road Newtown, PA 18940 from 10:00am until her Funeral Mass at 11:00am. Interment will follow in St. Ignatius Cemetery in Yardley.
