Roy William Riemenschneider III "Bill" of Perkasie died unexpectedly on Saturday, March 4, 2017. He was 56.
Bill was the beloved husband of Joan Lee Gavaghan (Joanie).
Born in Abington, he was the son of June Di Joseph Riemenschneider of Glenside and the late Roy William Riemenschneider Jr.
Bill started his career in the insurance business over 30 years ago after graduating from West Virginia University with a degree in Forestry. He was an outstanding athlete especially in football. As a football quarterback, Bill was a true leader both on and off the field. Bill enjoyed summer vacations with his family at the beach and boating in Ocean City, Maryland as well as spending time at the mountain house he built with his son near the Pine Creek. He also enjoyed playing golf and tending to his vegetable garden and apple trees. In the winter he enjoyed skiing, hunting and working at area boat shows. One of Bill’s favorite vacations was a trip to Sonoma, CA touring the wine country and tasting the wines. He was big fan of sports, including the Phillies, Eagles, Penn State and West Virginia Mountaineers. Bill was very active in the community coaching Little League and various football teams over the years and as a successful business owner sponsoring many local organizations including Manna on Main in Lansdale. He was a former member of the Abington Shade Tree Commission, the Hilltown Township Parks and Recreation Committee and an active member of the King of Prussia Ski Club.
In addition to Bill’s wife, Joan and mother, June (Phil), he is survived by his children Michael Riemenschneider and his wife Samantha of Ardsley, Krista Spillane and her husband Ryan of Ardsley, Kayla Morini and her husband Joseph of Willow Grove and their mother Sandra Fragale Riemenschneider (Tami) of Ardsley. He is also survived by his grandchildren Leighanne, Miley Rose, Karter and Kallie Rose and his brothers, James Riemenschneider (Tracey) of Doylestown and Andrew Riemenschneider (Amy) of Hatboro, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
